Arcanum

David Fischer Niht consists of two members of Nekrovault - I've been sold instantly. Arcanum starts off with a filthy, snotty sound, evolves and ends in torment and demise. Especially the last two songs are the sonic equivalent of a tortured soul being trapped in a phylactery forevermore and redying its gruesome death time and again. This is an unsettling piece of art, full of anguish. Song titles, themes and musical execution complement each other in a great way. Sucht (Addiction) is a prime example of that. Favorite track: Tod.

A The guitar lines I want to call agile, but they're also providing a strong frame, pulling every together and moving it along; I'm glad they're pretty forward, not hiding in the background. And I want to call the vocals "quintessential" black metal vocals—and very strong. Overall, it's quite a satisfying album.

YomaBarr I highly underrated this at first, my bad, and now I can't get enough of it. The guitarwork and the vocals (Germany seems to be swarming with talented vocalists) on this are incredible. Raw black metal to really get lost in, and just look at the song titles...

Dave Aftandilian The vitriol growled and spat from the depths of the vocalist’s (vocalists’?) soul here is truly astounding. Yet beyond the rage and hate lies a strongly melodic core; a powerful true heart that beats beneath the surface and refuses to be silenced. It’s odd, maybe, to describe a straight-ahead black metal album as “uplifting,” but that’s how this feels to me.

Rich Kinman I listened to this three times the other night. I love your production. I really like it because I can hear the bass player really good and normally in black metal bands the bass player is never heard. Your rhythm section throws down. Fast/Mid-paced/and slower. After listening to it a few times, this album really caught on. Please release some more. Thanks
